In English, the Year 5s have completed reading their second mentor text Belonging by Jeannie Baker. Belonging is a wordless book where students studied how the author communicates a sense of belonging through images. Students created their own window, capturing what they see and feel when they are home. They accompanied this window artwork with a haiku poem communicating their sense of belonging. Below is one of the finished projects and some examples of students' haiku poems.

Felices Pascuas todos!
Reception News
In maths the Receptions created 'buddies' to help them with their forward and backwards counting. For this activity students used unifex cubes to create 'stairs' for their buddies to go up and down as they counted forward and backwards. As they created their stairs, they wrote the numeral to match the number of unifex cubes used. They did a fantastic job with this and have loved using their buddies in maths and other subjects too!
Middle Primary News
The Year 3/4 Class made pumpkin scones with Jousing the pumpkins that we have grown in the school's green space. It took months to grow the pumpkins for these delicious scones. The students used their literacy and maths skills as well as following a procedure to ensure a good outcome. Our wellbeing focus was taking care, and using our cooperative skills to make the session enjoyable for all.
It was fantastic to see the students use their knowledge from our classroom learning in the kitchen to make real-life connections with their learning.

RE News
Hello!
Today we mark the start of the Holy Triduum, the days from Holy Thursday when Jesus had the last supper with his disciples, through to the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night. These days are the most solemn and holiest days of the Christian faith. In a world that is full of ‘busy’ and encourages people use that as a badge of honour, these days are intended to make us slow down and stop to recollect about what really is the most important truth of our lives. That is, that Jesus came to save us. That he suffered, died and rose for our sins out of pure love for each and every one of us. It is a beautiful reality. I hope you are able to find sometime over the weekend to pause and reflect and most importantly to feel that love.
We are now finishing up our Project Compassion campaign. If you have yet to donate or lost your box, here is a link for online donations! Please share with friends and family, we would love to equal last years amount of $1000.

Garden News
We’ve been busy creating from the Green Space.
Along with delicious pumpkin scones in the 3/4 class using our own butternut pumpkins, and our whole school relish project using our own tomatoes, onions and apples, we also been learning about creating our own dirt!
Each class saves their organic food scraps - fruit peels and veggie scraps from lunchboxes - and our compost monitors empty the buckets each day into the compost bin in the garden. We layer them with straw and add extra dirt here and there, and in less than six months we have a huge lot of healthy dirt ready to plant out winter crops into.
