Hello!
Half way through another year.. time seems to roll quicker as the years progress!
First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have reached out to me and offered a lot of love and support with my decision to step out of the classroom for at least the rest of the year. It means so much. Thank you.
Secondly, next term we will be running the MITIOG program, a letter and a copy of the curriculum will be sent out early in the term so you can have a look over the content that will be delivered. As usual, please do not hesitate to contact myself or your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
And lastly, have a great school holidays and I hope no matter your circumstances, you get some time to rest, recuperate and enjoy some time together as a family.
God Bless,
Miriam Honner
Reception News
This week students have been working in pairs to create a diorama of God's Creation. They are doing a great job so far.
Spanish News
Many of the foods we love are Spanish or from Spanish speaking countries. Nachos are a delicious dish with corn chips, mince, vegetables, salsa (Spanish sauce), cheese, spices and sour cream. The first nachos were made in Mexico nearly 100 years ago. It was a simple dish of corn chips, cheese and jalopenas (hot peppers). Today many more yummy foods can be added. Enjoy!
Junior Primary
In health, students in Year 1/2 have been learning about using positive self-talk as a tool to deflect the negative thoughts others and themselves say to oneself. We each created a positive self-talk shield to serve as a constant reminder that we have control over how we respond to challenges. It was fantastic to watch everyone make such unique shields that resonate only for them and to watch the students use these statements as tools in the classroom and in the yard.
SAPSASA Hockey
Our team had eleven players, three of them where from Whyalla. I was the only one from the SYPand there were a fgew who didn't even play hockey. The games were all reallyt close and our biggest loss was 6-0. Bythe last day we had only lost, but our next three games we had two draws and a win. It was a really fun and enjoyable experience. I would like to encourage more people to play hockey because it's really fun.

SAPSASA Netball
The thing I enjoyed when I did SAPSASA was meeting people I haven't seen in a while and getting to know more girls my age from this area. I made a lot of new friendships that wouldn't have happened if I didn't try out. It was also great to play some good old competitive netball against regions that I would never usually play against. I wish I could do it every year! It's good for kids to get out and play sport they love and also to meet new people. Even if you don't think you will make it, have a try - it's a great experience!
