Garden News
Winter crops are well underway, seedlings are strong and healthy. The mandarin tree is loaded, and the rhubarb is booming. If you are planting at home, there is still time to pop in some garlic, herbs, broccoli, cauli and leafy greens.
Students have been helping with mulching, weeding, composting, looking for snails and preparing more beds to increase our crop potential.
We are looking forward to several blocks of Home Ec across the school this first part of the term, incorporating our reserved summer harvests of tomatoes, capsicum and garlic, as well as using our new winter crops of herbs, greens and onions. We are also translating maths skills into the kitchen next week in the year five class, and our learning around multicultural cuisine in the upper primary class.
Spanish News - Reception and Junior Primary
Students have begun this term studying Mi Familia. The Reception and Year 1 & 2 classes read a story about a family of mice and then made a “Mi Familia” necklace drawing their own families.
Reception News
Last week in maths, the Receptions learnt about subitising. We discussed that subitising is when you can instantly recognise how many are in a set without counting them one by one. Students then completed some fun subitising activities to help reinforce their skills.
Junior Primary News
In Year 1/2 we learnt about Anzac Day in Hass. We learnt that on this day we reflect, remember and show respect to those who fought for our country. We also learnt that we have dawn services on Anzac Day for everyone to attend and participate in. We made these crafts as they help us to reflect on the great sacrifice service men and women made in the past, present and future.
