Term 4 Week 1
Dear SCMS Community,
Late last term, I was privileged to attend the Catholic Schools Music Festival in Adelaide. What a spectacular evening! The students were amazing. They sang and danced the hearts out and after speaking with parents after the show, there was enormous pride. A huge thank you to Mrs Angela Grigoras-Oates for her leadership and commitment in the program.
Another proud principal moment late last term was the successful ‘Market Day’. The Year 6/7 students worked tirelessly on their businesses and with the help of staff and families did an amazing job raising a combined total of $1500. Thank you to all who were able to attend and contribute on the day.
Looking ahead, we have another exciting term! We have many fantastic opportunities planned, ensuring memorable experiences for all our students. Our Year 6/7s are eagerly anticipating their camp in Adelaide during Week 3, with the Year 5 class heading to the Adelaide Hills in Week 6. Both camps will foster friendships and offer fun, exciting challenges.
This term also brings plenty of sporting events for our students to represent the school, including the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival, Tennis Hot Shots, and SAPSASA Cricket and Tennis.
Our Parents and Friends Quiz Night is back on October 26, and it's going to be a blast. The P&F group has put in a tremendous effort to organize a fantastic night, complete with exciting prizes. We've already gathered plenty of items for the silent auction, and there's still time to contribute if you'd like. Two tables are still available, so if you're thinking of joining, now's your chance! Bring along family and friends for a fun-filled "Sports" themed evening. I can’t wait to see everyone dressed up and having a great time!
As the weather warms up, we have several exciting excursions and incursions planned to enhance students’ learning beyond the classroom. For our graduating students, we’re preparing a special celebration to mark this important milestone.
Keep your eyes out for correspondence through notes home and seesaw posts regarding up-and-coming events. I encourage all families to be involved in as many of these events as possible.
Finally, I draw your attention to a position I have tried to fill for the past several weeks and have had no luck. St Columba’s are looking for a groundsman who can commit to approximately 12 hours/week to help around the school. If you are interested or know someone looking for part time work, please come and see me.
Here’s to a fantastic term filled with learning, adventures, and fun!
God Bless,
Luke Buchanan
Hello!
Welcome to the final term of the year. This term we will be celebrating two whole school masses. The first one will be for All Saints Day on Friday November 1 and the second one will be our whole school Graduation Mass on Tuesday December 3. Both of these masses will begin at 9:15am. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible, with morning tea provided after each one.
I’m looking forward to a great term ahead as we wind down for end of year break and move into Advent season and Christmas!
God Bless,
Miriam Honner
